Lipsky Art

Pattern Seeker

New Outlook

I recently moved, from Johnston, RI to West Warwick, RI, and from a huge house to a large apartment, and from a couple to a single.  I have finally unpacked, and am starting to feel creative again. My apartment complex is on a river, and here is the view looking northeast-ish:

My building is on the right.

and looking southwest-ish:

I find it hard to believe this place exists in the middle of a small RI town!  I think it is wonderful.

Now to get to work. -June 21, 2016

President again!

I am very proud to say that I was just re-elected as President of the Society of Gilders for 2016-2018!  It is an honor and a pleasure to work with all the other Board members and I look forward to the coming years.

‘Tis the season to start thinking of Hanukah gifts, and I will be showing my artwork in Providence as explained below.  I would love to see you all!  Plus, you can see my new line of jewelry and ornaments – here’s a hint – there is gold leaf involved! (I will soon post more here).

  And finally…

At long last, I have found a new framing combination for my Hineni print.  It features a deep blue mat with a hint of pattern, similar to the previous one, but the frame is now black wood, with a fine silver inner lip.  The good news is the price has not changed; the less good news is that the shipping cost has gone up a bit.  This is reflected on under “Current work- lithographs” or click here: (http://lipskyart.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=39b98208e22e3c92aff0adc8c&id=6e5f9b3dac&e=85a1772d9b)

Gilding Conference Chicago 2015 is a Success

The Society of Gilders held its biennial conference in Chicago, June 1-6.  We were hosted by Loyola University Chicago, and that was a wonderful experience in itself.  Everyone thought it was one of the best conferences we’ve had.  The grand finale was a chartered bus trip to Pontiac, IL for the dedication of the Museum of the Gilding Arts.

Here is the ribbon-cutting at the Museum on Saturday.  To my right is Mayor Bob Russell,  and next to him are Mr and Mrs Robert Swft, who donated the contents of the Swift gold-beating factory, the original impetus for the Museum. At the far left are Peter Miller and Annie Lemarie, who were really responsible for originating, designing, and bringing the Museum to life.

Quilling in Providence

I was honored to have an exhibit at the Providence Dwares Jewish Community Center from October -November, 2014.  Erin Moseley, the curator, did a superb job of hanging my work.  The many disparate colors, sizes, and themes all seemed to fit together under her careful eye. The opening reception was lovely, and a number of people showed up in spite of the pouring rain.  I enjoyed wearing a party dress.  While my work was on display, I gave an introductory quilling class – I had 11 students and they were all interested!
