Description
This piece is based on the verse “Hide us in the shadow of your wings” from the “Hashkiveinu” prayer. It is darker than my usual work. I first began it after 9/11, and then it went through several revisions over many years. Now I am satisfied. The wings are quilled with 23k gilt edging; the outer levels are made of covered fomeboard with multiple layers of paper, paint and varnish. The lettering shows the verse in Hebrew and English, written with genuine gold (“shell gold”). The globe is acrylic paint. The framed work is about 18″ x 18″.
