Pattern Seeker

Palazzo pants

These pants were made from an old April Cornell tablecloth that I  had but rarely used.  I love the border.  The pattern I used was by Liesl & Co, “Cannes wide-legged trousers”.

Cape

I made this in a Zoom Master Seamstress class, taught by the amazing Jane Headley.  It has bound buttonholes and a full lining.

Roman Shades

Roman Shades

I made these shades for the dining room bay window. The cord can be fastened in three positions – half open (as shown), three-quarters open,  or all the way down.  While making them, I asked one of the experts at the Rowley Company  for technical advice.  When I finished the project, I sent her this picture in appreciation.  She replied that they would like permission to post it on their website, and I enthusiastically agreed to the honor.  It has since been replaced with other work, but I had my 15 minutes of drapery fame!

Gilded, Quilled Mirror

mirror-22good-dusted-sm   This mirror was created using silver leaf behind glass, which was then distressed to make it look antique.  The “frame” around the mirror was made entirely from paper, covered with 23k gold leaf.  The whole piece is about 4″ x 6″.  It is set into a black wood shadow-box frame lined with black velvet.   To my delight, this piece was purchased by a fellow gilder – a great compliment.
