Contemporary Judaica in the United States and Those Who Created It
by Kathryn Morton, Flower Valley Press, MD, 1999, 199 pps, 11″x9″, $35
This is a beautiful book, organized by artistic medium, such as paper, wood, etc. I met Kathryn at a Judaic art show, and she was kind enough to later reveal that that show was her inspiration for creating this book. Each artist is given one or two pages, usually with multiple pictures of their work, and a biography. It was a labor of love for her, and I am honored to have been included. This book is now out of print and few copies are available. These copies are “like new”. Tax and shipping will be added at checkout.
Techniques and Projects for Paper Filigree
by Malinda Johnston z’t’l, Altamont Press, NC, 1994, 144 pps, 10.5″ x 9″, $40
For a very long time, there were few books on quilling, and none that were in color. Malinda, who owned Lake City Arts, a quilling supplier, published this beautiful book. It has full color illustrations, step by step general instructions and patterns to create pictured designs, as well as a “Gallery” chapter at the end showing examples of modern quilling. Since then, many books have come out by other quillers all over the world. Malinda encouraged all of them. We first became acquainted when I ordered paper from her; before long, she and her husband sailed into Baltimore harbor and visited with us! She invited me to be in this book, and there are many examples of my work in the instructional and gallery chapters. Malinda had a generous, creative soul, and she is sorely missed in the quilling world, but her contributions put quilling on the map. This book is now out of print and few copies are available. These copies are “like new”. Tax and shipping will be added at checkout.

The Law – The Lore – The Love of Mezuzot
by Belle Rosenbaum z’t’l, The Jacob and Belle Rosenbaum Foundation, NY 1995, 288pps, 12″x9″, signed by author $155
This is a beautiful book printed with the highest quality of professional standards. Belle collected mezuzot for over 50 years, and this book was a labor of love to document her collection. Each mezuzah is in alphabetical order by artist, with a brief biography. I had the honor of selling Belle one of my quilled mezuzot when we met at a craft show in NYC many years ago, and I am additionally honored to be in the company of the outstanding Judaic artists in this book. Belle donated her entire collection to the Great Synagogue in Jerusalem, and it was a profound thrill to see my mezuzah there when I visited. This book is now out of print and few copies are available.
